Ryan Reynolds' Free Guy will NOT release in theatres in December.

Ryan Reynolds' new film Free Guy will not be releasing in theatres in December 2020. Free Guy was slated for a December 11th release, due to the coronavirus pandemic the studio has decided to push back the release indefinitely.

Major movie studios have started to pull potential box office hits from release, others include No Time To Die, the next instalment starring Daniel Craig and Mulan, the highly anticipated live action remake which was added to Disney+ premium earlier this year.

With no new date announced, it's unclear when we will see Free Guy hit cinemas. Starring Ryan Reynolds as "Guy" and Jodie Comer as "Milly" whom you might recognise from the brilliant Killing Eve, Free Guy centres around Reynolds' character who is an NPC (non playable character) in a popular video game. Guy suddenly becomes self aware and decides enough is enough, things get crazy from there.

Reynolds has had somewhat of a resurgence in the last 5 years, mainly due to the success of the Deadpool franchise. Suffering from the famous Matthew McConaughey disease "too many rom com's" Reynolds spent most of the 2000's starring in OK comedies aimed at teenage audiences. For the most part these movies did the job and while some were better then others it didn't really do his career any harm.

Unfortunately for Reynolds, cinema has largely changed over the last decade and teenage comedies are no longer a big draw for theatres. His R rated Deadpool, which he tried for years to get off the ground finally got made and the rest is history. He is now one of the go to stars for action movies with a hint of comedy. The fantastic 6 Underground proved that although he hasn't changed the way he acts, he has picked more grown up roles that suit his style.

With Reynolds, you either love him, or hate him...and we certainly love him.

With streaming services paying huge sums of money for exclusive rights to release, it is perfectly possible that we may see Free Guy pop up on a service soon.
