Well, well, well Tom....
Audio footage was released earlier today (16/12/2020) of Tom Cruise destroying a few members of the crew on his new movie "Mission Impossible 7". If you haven't already listened to it, please head over to The Sun and have a listen, it makes for interesting ear candy.
Whatever your thought's on Tom Cruise, whether it's his odd scientology beliefs, or the fact he might be the nicest actor in Hollywood...except Tom Hanks (obviously), he has starred in some exceptional films, here is a run down of our favourites and the ones we believe deserve a place in our top 10.
10. Cocktail (1988)
A talented New York City bartender takes a job at a bar in Jamaica and falls in love.
What can we say...if it were up to us Cocktail would be on every day of the year.
A classic retro feeling 80's movie, with a great performance from Bryan Brown as Doug Coughlin, the "mentor" if you like, to Tom Cruise' Brian Flanagan.
If you haven't seen it, speak to your mum, I'm sure she'll tell how good it is.
9. Born on the Fourth of July (1990)
The biography of Ron Kovic. Paralyzed in the Vietnam war, he becomes an anti-war and pro-human rights political activist after feeling betrayed by the country he fought for.
The amazing true story of love, loss and regret. Tom is fantastic in this role, aged 28 the year of filming it's remarkable that man who has never been to war, never seen or been put in that kind of position before, was tasked with taking on a role this heavy. He knocked it out of the park and the film received 8 Oscar nominations and 2 nods for Best Director (Oliver Stone) and Editing.
Cruise also received a Bafta nod for his performance.
8. Minority Report (2002)
Anybody who say's this isn't one of Steven Spielberg's best films is a liar...no we're joking, but it definitely is.
Based on the immensely popular Philip K. Dick short story (also famous for Blade Runner, Total Recall and A Scanner Darkly) It's one of those films that yes it's set in the future, but it's not so far that it's not believe. OK maybe the flying cars are a little far fetched but certainly the VR technology when he's swiping across the crime scenes is close to being in every day life (if it was more affordable).
Anyway, Tom excels in this type of role as the confused detective trying to solve a murder he hasn't committed yet.
7. A Few Good Men (1992)
Now a lot of you might say that Jack Nicholson stole the show, However, unbelievably he was only in three scenes in the entire movie. Although we don't disagree that Jack's performance was fantastic, Tom Cruise once again proves that even if you're Hollywood gold standard talent (Jack Nicholson) he will keep up with you every step of the way.
A very mature performance and perfectly cast as the sharp tongued hot shot Military Lawyer, Tom Cruise is 100% somebody we want to have on our side if we were in court.
Plus let's not forget this film spawned one of the greatest quotes of all time in the history of cinema. "you can't handle the truth"
6. Mission Impossible: Fallout
A return to winning ways for this one.
Yes, Ethen Hunt is basically the American James Bond. Tom Cruise has built his career on this franchise and why not! Probably the best entry in the franchise aside from the obvious (we'll get to that).
Let's be honest, you don't expect much from these films, it's more a showcase of "what silly stunt can Tom try and do, before he kills himself?". Seriously though, we're not complaining, he learned to fly a helicopter for this...could he be any cooler?!
Also...there's a moustache and a fight in a toilet which is a simple but brilliant set piece.
5. Risky Business (1983)
Nothing more will be said other then this...

4. Jerry Maguire (1996)
Film quote anyone?
Our personal favourite on this list, this is not just a classic Tom Cruise film but this is THE classic Rom Com that all others are modelled on.
"You had me at hello"
"Show me the money"
"You complete me"
I don't think any other film can boast such a list of famous quotes.
And who can forget Jonathan Lipnicki, the cutest kid ever.
3. Tropic Thunder (2008)
Let us explain...
Not a good film, has it's moments yes but all in all it was an excuse for Ben Stiller to show off his phonebook of friends and see who he could get to be in his film.
BUT.....He gave us Tom Cruise in his most memorable role to date.
Fat and foul mouthed(almost sounded like his rant on the Mission Impossible set), he is the best thing to come out of this movie and has spawned numerous memes since it aired 12 years ago.

2. Top Gun (1988)
It doesn't get much retro 80's then Top Gun.
The beach volleyball scene is another level bromance, we all wish had a friend we can play volleyball on a beach with...in sunglasses, without shirts, and waaaaay too much baby oil on.
Another great set of quotes as well with this one...

1. Rain Man (1988) / Mission Impossible (1996)
We couldn't decide! Some of you may think this is a slight cop out, but think about these two films for what they are. Don't compare them to each other, then make your choice.
We'll start with Rain man, Bafta's, Golden Globes and Oscar's. This Movie has it all, Dustin Hoffman's best performance by far. The story if you haven't seen it is about love, brotherly love to be exact. Tom Cruises' character is a bit of a jack the lad, likes his own company, finds out through a family tragedy that he has a brother. His brother, Dustin Hoffman has Autism, doesn't talk and has no idea who his brother is.
The story takes them to Vegas, where they realise there relationship could be mutually beneficial, all through a great scene about toothpicks.
The rest needs to be watched, Tom Cruises' performance is even more special considering that he released 4 films from 1988-1990, he was one busy boy so to be able to give this sort of performance while also having other projects on the go is pretty impressive.
Next up Mission Impossible, No not the second instalment... The first and the best.
Now we wouldn't expect anything else from a Brian De Palma film. Carrie, Scarface, The Untouchables, Carlito's Way, The Black Dahlia, Snake Eyes. What a list!
Known for long cut's and tense build ups, he really nails this as a mystery thriller. Rather then building up each scene and giving you the ending of that scene straight away, he builds the tension from the very beginning and it doesn't end until they get on a train...
The perfect role for Tom, It's dramatic, packed with action and he get's to run... A lot.
Once again another Cruise film which we can't see anyone else playing his role, unfortunately since the first instalment it hasn't really kept the same quality, until Fallout. Fingers crossed his next 2 Mission Impossible movies are more MI1 and not MI2.
