Lethal weapon 5 is currently being worked on, confirms Mel Gibson.

It's been over 22 years since the last Lethal weapon hit the screens. Rumours surrounding a potential sequel have been circulating for a number of years, now it seems Mel Gibson has finally confirmed that the long awaited sequel is in the works.

When asked in an interview with GMA whether a sequel would work he said "The man who was behind all of that, the man who brought it to the screen and gave it the goodies is working on it right now, Richard Donner, he's a legend"

Richard Donner, 90, helmed the first 4 movies and despite his age shows no signs of slowing down.

The veteran Director has also had a number of hits including the original Superman movies (1978) and (1980), The Goonies (1985) and Assassins (1995) starring Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas.

You may remember the short lived Lethal weapon TV show which ran from 2016-2019. The show cast Damon Wayans as Roger Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs.

Clayne Crawfords' Riggs was killed off at the end of season 2 and the show was cancelled a season later.

Hopefully the fifth instalment of the franchise can live up to the previous four and give us some closure on whether Roger Murtaugh really will retire... after all, he's "way too old for this s*'@t".

Which Lethal Weapon film was your favourite?
